Austrian officer saber, pattern 1837

Austrian officer saber, pattern 1837, modified circa 1890 : with a single scabbard ring. All steel mounting, grey shark skin grip with brass wire. Large « Blücher » guard and long pommel, hooked quillon and two large oreillons. Curved blade with round back, engraved in script letters : « G H Kohl waffenfabrickant à Stuttgart ». All steel scabbard with engraved throat piece and a single suspending ring. Price : 500 Euros....

First Empire French officer « à l’orientale » saber

Very nice French officer saber in « Kilidj » style, circa First Empire. Long blond horn grip (a thin crack on internal side) with two brass eyelets on upper parts, engraved with pearls rings. Two oval brass pièces in the middle on both sides. Large oriental style guard, finely engraved with flowers in the middle. Heavy flat blade (79 cm) on « Kilidj » type, in very high quality fine damascus. This blade was made circa 1730-1750, because of its two Kofgari signatures. One of them is still present, but the other one, originaly placed on the upper part, is now almost masked with the typically European making system (some losses on Kofgari). Black leather on wood scabbard (the leather is dry a little, near the metallic parts). Four golded brass elements, finely engraved with flowers and palms designs on both sides. This saber, in the construction, design and ornaments, is very similar to those made by the famous Parisian maker, Pirmet, during the First Empire period. Price : 4 800...

French Second Empire 100 guards saber, pattern 1854. Short pommel, engraved with laurels. Wired brown horn grip. All ciseled brass mounting, with one main branch and three secundary ones, supporting a central design : A large shinning star with in the middle, the very well ciseled  Second Empire great arms. Straight blade (100 cm) with a single fuller, engraved on back : « Mre Imp=le De Chât =t Avril 1854 » (blade without any rust or mark and even under old solid grease). Good scabbard, but in light fabrication, engraved on rear : Mx MANCEAUX PARIS (for Jules Manceaux in Paris, the official maker for Her Majesty Napoleon III and the main part of Imperial Guard – scabbard without any rust or defect) Price : 4 800...

French Drum-Major saber, circa Second Empire

French Drum-Major pattern 1822 saber, circa Présidence/Second Empire (1852). All ciseled brass mounting. « Pistol » grip with short pommel, engraved with laurels and flowers on the lower part and a big lion head on top. Black horn wired grip and large « cross » guard, ornate in the middle with a separate Imperial eagle, mounted on flags. White curved blade (81 cm), engraved on back : Manuf re R le de Klingenthal 1834. All deeply engraved and ciseled scabbard, divided in four sections. The upper one is ornate with the Drum-Major attributes : the bear cap, the canes and of course a large drum on two horns. On each sides, two long suspending hooks (some worn on each one). The three lower sections are engraved with palms and laurels. The tip of the scabbard with an heavy element fixed with a screw on the upper side. (Saber in excellent conditions, only with some gold on deeper parts of the engravings and under throat and tip pièces. some very light movement on the pommel) Price : 5 100 Euros....

French Artillery trooper saber pattern 1829. All brass mounting, short pommel with blade rivet on the top. Leather on wood grip, with two twisted brass wires (some parts of the leather and the main part of wire are missing). Curved blade in grey patina (81,3 cm) engraved on the back  » Manuf re R le de Châtellerault Juin 1845″ and clearly stamped on rear : « G » and « B » under stars and n° 17 on the other side. Two rings all steel scabbard, in black patina with some light rust spots (remains of stamps on the upper ring support and tip element). Price : 450...

French light cavalry saber

French light cavalry trooper saber pattern 1822. Brass mounting with two secundary branches. The external part of the main one is very clearly stamped with four oval stamps : « R », « B »and »C » under stars and « 1 ». It is also numbered « 1577 ». Black leather on wood grip with original brass wire. White curved blade (91,5 cm) with a main fuller and a thiner one along the back on both sides. The back is still deeply engraved : « Mre d’Armes de Chât t 9 bre 1877= Cav rie l re Mle 1822 ». (Blade in perfect conditions, with reglementary sharpening on half. Without any rust, only some grease on several parts and three points engraved on rear on one side) All steel officers scabbard with two rings. Engraved on the rear top : « MANCEAUX A PARIS » (light rust on the scabbard but nothing huge or deep, will need a little cleaning, three light mark on the tip). Price : 700...

French Dragoon saber pattern 1854

French Dragoon trooper saber, pattern 1854/82. Brass mounting. Short pommel and wired leather on wood grip (wire probably replaced). Three secundary branches and a round main one (a stamp « B » and order number 24179 on the external side). Oval plate. White straigh blade (92,8 cm) with two fullers on each side. The back is deeply engraved : « M re Imp ale de Chât t Mars 1865 – Dragon Mle 1854 » (two oval stamps on rear). Blade very close to mint conditions. All steel scabbard with the 1882 modification (a single ring instead of two). Throat piece stamped « C » and matching number 2417… on the ring support (some light rust spots on several parts of the scabbard and a little shock). Price : 800 Euros.    ...

French Infantry « Adjudant » saber pattern 1845

French high rank non-comissionned Infantry officer saber, pattern 1845. Brass mounting. Short pommel with laurels designs on rear. Wired blond horn grip. Curved guard and holeworked plate, ciseled on both sides with palms and laurels (some designs erased). Slightly curved white blade (76,5 cm) with two fullers on each sides. It is engraved on the back : Mre d’Armes de Chât lt 7bre 1876 Adjt d’Inf rie Mle 1845 (for Châtellerault manufacture in september 1876 and the reference pattern of this saber) Blade in mint conditions, except some light rust in the junction point with the original leather protection. All steel pattern 1855 scabbard with two rings (some rust on throat piece in contact with leather). A few deeper pittings tracks on tip element and several very light rust points on scabbard (must need a little cleaning). « Karabela » saber, XVIII th century

Polish or Hungarian « Karabela » saber, mid of XVIIIth century era. All steel mounting. « Spoon » pommel engraved in rising sun on top. Bone grip with three oval nails on both sides. « S » steel guard with little balls tips. Very strong curved blade with one fuller (70,5 cm and 4 cm large on rear). Deeply engraved on both sides : « FRINGIA » on one side and larges moon and sun on the other one. French Imperial Guard sapper saber

Imperial Guard Sapper saber, circa first Empire. All brass mounting. The eagle head originaly on the hilt top, was removed after the Empire falling (only remainings of the eyes on both sides) and adapted in Phrygian cap. Large guard with lion head on each side and antiques rams quillons. Heavy white blade with sawback (72,5 cm) marked « Coulaux et Cie Klingenthal » on rear. Good leather scabbard with two heavy brass pièces. Price : 1 850 Euros....
