French « Gardes du Corps du Roy » sword, Louis XVI regn

French « Gardes du Corps du Roi » (the king’s bodyguards) sword, last quarter of XVIIIth century. Silvered brass mounting (30 % of original silver plate are still present). Egg-shaped pommel with upper long rivet piece. Round guard and « ball » quillon. All silver wired grip with two silver rings on tops, ornate with engraved lines. Large symmetrical plate (The pommel is still well adjusted but both plate and guard are moving a little). The whole mounting is deeply engraved with ondulating lines. This very particular design was dedicated to « Gardes du Corps du Roy ». Triangular Solingen blade (85,7 cm) in grey patina, with a deep fuller on the internal side. It is engraved on rear (7 cm)and on both sides, with weapons trophys and flowers. (Except the blade, this sword is exactly the same as the one depicted in the French edge weapons « bible » (Ariès books 1966/n°2)). With the French monarchy falling and then during the Revolution period, the most part of the Guard members were slaughtered (This scarce sword was originally found in Versailles area). French Artillery trooper saber pattern 1829. All brass mounting, short pommel with blade rivet on the top. Leather on wood grip, with two twisted brass wires (some parts of the leather and the main part of wire are missing). Curved blade in grey patina (81,3 cm) engraved on the back  » Manuf re R le de Châtellerault Juin 1845″ and clearly stamped on rear : « G » and « B » under stars and n° 17 on the other side. French light cavalry saber

French light cavalry trooper saber pattern 1822. Brass mounting with two secundary branches. The external part of the main one is very clearly stamped with four oval stamps : « R », « B »and »C » under stars and « 1 ». It is also numbered « 1577 ». Black leather on wood grip with original brass wire. White curved blade (91,5 cm) with a main fuller and a thiner one along the back on both sides. The back is still deeply engraved : « Mre d’Armes de Chât t 9 bre 1877= Cav rie l re Mle 1822 ». (Blade in perfect conditions, with reglementary sharpening on half. Without any rust, only some grease on several parts and three points engraved on rear on one side) All steel officers scabbard with two rings. Engraved on the rear top : « MANCEAUX A PARIS » (light rust on the scabbard but nothing huge or deep, will need a little cleaning, three light mark on the tip). Price : 700...
