French pattern 1882 Infantry officer saber, for colonial use.

Pattern 1882 officer saber, used in Colonial service. All nickel 3 secundary branches plated mounting. Long pommel, black horn wired grip. Two great prints by P.A. PROTAIS.

Pair of big prints, by P.A. PROTAIS, engraved by A.DURAND. « Before the battle and after », circa 1876. Paul Alexandre PROTAIS (Paris 1825-1890). Historical painter, student of the historical painter Auguste DESMOULINS, PROTAIS decided to follow the army in Crimean war, Italy 1859 campaign and 1870 Franco-Prussian war. For having the bests impressions of fightings, he choose placing himlself in the middle of troops during the alerts. So, he was wounded on 3 times. He was regularly awarded in the Paris painting contests during Second Empire and after. Only a few painters were as popular and renowned as him, during this time. Price : 700 Euros....

French high-rank « état-major » officer sword, first Empire era.

French high-rank état-major officer sword, circa first Empire. Really high quality gold plated brass mounting. (still 98% of original gold plate is still present). Curved « en crosse » pommel, ciseled with a leaf. Mother of peal grip, engraved with very unusual horizontal lines. Guard with a lion head in the middle and laurels on both sides. Half-moon plate, with faced lions on upper part and Athéna godess in the middle, supported by two swords and axes. Two antique helmets on both sides. Triangular blade (78,5 cm) engraved « I G B » on rear (for Johan and Clemens Boegel in Solingen) and then, classical flowers and weapons trophys. This part of the blade, still presenting blue and gold. The second part, in black patina, but without deep oxydatuion (a little cleaning is able to restore this part). Price : 600 Euros.  ...

French first Empire high-rank officer sword.

High-rank officer sword circa first Empire. Really well-ciseled gold plated brass mounting (80 % of original gold plate still present). Pommel engraved with palms, laurels and « état-major » design on both sides. Mother of pearl grip, with four ciseled elements in angles. Guard ornate with an eagle head on upper part and leaves on all the rest. Plate with engraved laurels all around and an antique godess in the middle. Lion head quillon. Flat blade (80 cm) engraved « N K » on rear and classical flowers and weapons. (a large part of blue and gold is still present on first half of the blade, the rest in black patina but no deep oxydation). French sword, end of Louis XVI reign / Revolution.

French sword, so called « épée-uniforme », circa 1786-1789. All silver plated brass mounting (75% of original silver plate is still present). Helmet with feathers pommel. All silver wired grip (a little distended). Flat sides guard and quillon. Asymetrical plate, curved on frontal side. Triangular blade (83,5 cm), marked « I S et C » on rear (for Johan Schimelbush and Co in Solingen), engraved on first part with classical flowers and weapons trophys. Still gold and blue on engravings (Blue color changed to black one) Good leather scabbard with two silver plated brass elements. Price : 950...
